Rig Roundup: 6 Pet-Friendly RVs

More than 70 percent of RVers travel with pets, according to a recent survey from Harvest Hosts. For many of us, dogs and cats are important family members, so why not take them along on the next camping adventure? Manufacturers are adding special features to make their rigs more pet-friendly.

Important Features to Look for in Pet-Friendly Rigs

  • Built-in Crates: It may be difficult to find an out-of-the-way location to place a dog crate in many RVs. A built-in kennel offers a cozy location for your pets to rest.
  • Leash Latch: If you want to tie out your pet at your campsite, a leash latch provides a way to tether your pet to your RV, which is more secure than putting a stake in the ground.
  • Claw-Friendly Vents: It’s easy for pets to get their claws stuck in raised floor vents. Look for vents that are flush with the floor or wall-mounted instead.
  • Kick-Out Feeding Bowls: Feeding your pet can be messy. Pet-friendly RVs come with built-in feeding drawers, which allow you to pull out water and food bowls. When mealtime is over, the tray slides in.
  • Pet-Friendly Flooring: Look for vinyl and laminate options instead of carpet for easy-to-clean flooring.
