Apple’s iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8, SE, and Ultra debuted this month—with new features aimed at outdoor junkies. Emergency SOS now allows users to send a help alert using satellite connectivity even when out of cell phone signal and WiFi range. The feature also works on the Apple Watch, as long as an iPhone 14 is nearby. The iPhone’s upgraded camera now includes action mode to increase stability, and the Apple Watch has customizable “action” features. Both items offer increased protection from damage and breakage.

Already known for its natural beauty, Tennessee is adding one more state park to its list. The state approved the creation of Savage Gulf State Park, which features old-growth forests, waterfalls, and scenic vistas. Currently, part of the land is managed under South Cumberland State Park, but growing interest and a unique landscape prompted Tennessee State Parks to create a new destination. More than $30 million is designated for infrastructure and facilities development, including an RV campground and visitor center.

In hopes of appealing to the outdoor market, GE Appliances debuted a new line of ranges and coolers. The GE RV Ready 12-volt LP ranges are designed as drop-in and freestanding units, for both production and post-production installation. GE is promising to deliver even cooking temperatures and performance—addressing a longstanding complaint within the RV industry. The new lineup of GE Profile electric coolers come in 50- and 75-liter sizes and are powered by a 12-volt DC connection or standard outlet. Both products will be showcased at the RV Hall of Fame Supplier Show this week.
