Go RV Hunting with a Family Searching for the Perfect Hybrid Trailer
Like many RVers, the Schnell family purchased their first travel trailer and soon began yearning for an upgrade. The expectations of their camping lifestyle didn’t align with the realities, and they decided they needed a larger rig. Togo RV’s On the RV Hunt series takes you rig shopping with the family as they consider three upgrade options. Will they pick one of the two larger hybrids featuring three pop-out beds and slide-out dinettes, or will they take a leap and go for the fifth wheel bunkhouse? Check out the contenders and see which rig they chose on Togo RV.
READ THE STORYWhat to Do When Your RV Fridge Has a Meltdown
If your RV fridge suddenly quits working, it’s easy to assume the worst: a repair involving a lot of time and money. However, you can potentially fix the problem yourself. If you’re unsure about the electrical source, try to prevent a fridge breakdown by unplugging it. Even with a surge protector, electrical surges can harm your appliances. Carry a solid tool kit, and don’t be afraid to use it. While it can be intimidating, you may get your fridge chilling again with a little effort and guidance. READ THE STORYA First-Timer’s Guide to Renting an RV
With so many peer-to-peer and traditional RV rental platforms on the market, it’s hard to know what option is right for you and your trip. While it’s easy to go by the lowest price, you’ll want to make sure everyone has a bed and that the kitchen is stocked with essentials for cooking. If you’re bringing any pets along, make sure it’s pet-friendly, and if you need room for toys like kayaks and bikes, make sure the rig can accommodate them. And if you’re nervous about driving an RV at all, many rental companies will deliver it to the campground you’re staying at. Read reviews, look for detailed information on insurance and roadside assistance, and understand what’s included in the price. Find out more tips in Togo RV’s guide to renting an RV.

READ THE STORYGas Prices Are on the Rise in May
After U.S. gas prices jumped 15 cents on average in March, April saw just a three-cent rise. Crude oil prices were mostly steady, as demand fluctuated. Over the weekend the Colonial Pipeline—which delivers about 45 percent of the fuel to the East Coast—was hacked, causing a shutdown. While supply impacts are expected to be regional, some areas of the U.S., like Indiana, Florida, and Michigan, saw gas prices rise between 10 and 15 cents in the past week. It’s important to not panic buy and conserve gas when possible while the situation continues.
As more travelers hit the road after Memorial Day, roadtrippers may continue to find higher prices. A shortage of fuel truck drivers may impact deliveries, and optimism about the international crude oil market could also lift prices.
