Meet the Newest National Park in the U.S.
West Virginia’s New River Gorge has long been notable for its iconic steel arch bridge, framed by the undulating green hills of the Appalachian Mountains. Now it’s also notable as the newest national park in the U.S. Previously, the rippling river that runs below the New River Gorge Bridge was designated a national river. In 2021, the waters and 70,000 acres of surrounding wilderness will be reclassified by the National Park Service as an official national park, offering visitors a beautiful backdrop for hiking, fishing, paddling, rock climbing, and more.
