How to Book a Campsite During This Busy Summer

Record numbers of campers are filling parks, making it more difficult to get reservations. One tip is to research when reservations open for campgrounds near your destination so you can snag a spot quickly. If your preferred campground is already full, use a service like Campnab to get an alert when a cancellation becomes available. Consider private land options, which allow you to spend the night in someone’s yard or driveway, or go boondocking on dispersed lands. Also, while campgrounds in and near popular locations—like state and national parks—may be booked, you may be able to find a great campground a few miles away.

Check Out This Half-Ton Towable Fifth Wheel

The fifth wheel market includes many gargantuan floorplans, making it hard to find a model towable by a half-ton pickup. Those wanting a nimble, lightweight fifth wheel should consider the KZ Sportsmen 231RK. This 24-foot-5-inch rig weighs less than 7,500 pounds fully loaded and has a hitch weight of 790 pounds. The main living area features a rear L-shaped kitchen. A 64-inch jackknife sofa is located directly across from the dinette, which is topped by the entertainment center. Head up the stairs to find the bathroom, which offers a roomy corner shower, and the main bedroom, which has a queen-sized bed.

This camping chair is a crowd favorite and at less than $100 it’s easy to see why. The compact rocker doesn’t take up much space either and comes with its own carrying bag.
