National Park Plans Shut Down in Minnesota
After significant debate, a proposed plan to develop a new national park in Minnesota has come to an end. Driftless National Park and Preserve would have been located in the Whitewater River Valley. While the plan had supporters, residents were concerned about crowds, land use restrictions, and the loss of local control. Ultimately, these fears prevented the park initiative from advancing further.
