Want to Camp on an Active Volcano?

Visitors to Mount St. Helens Volcanic National Monument in Washington have long had to stay outside the park’s boundaries, making an hour-long drive to see the volcano’s highlights. A new development plan was recently approved, which will allow visitors to stay right in the blast zone. Kift is offering 10,000 memberships through its NFT sales. Funds will be used to purchase lands across popular travel destinations in the western U.S., where vanlifers, overlanders, and other nomads can live a communal lifestyle. Until the living spaces are open, Kift members gain voting rights to pick the first lands to be developed and gain access to a network of community houses.

Despite growth in demand and increased inflation, RV rental prices have only risen slightly in the past year. Go RV Rentals compiled data from listings on the company’s RV rental website and found a 3.6 percent increase in prices. The base cost for RV rentals across the survey’s 20 sampled metro areas averaged out at $184 per night. Prices range from $91 for pop-up campers to upwards of $300 for luxury Class A motorhomes—not including additional amenities and services.
