Want to Camp on an Active Volcano?
Visitors to Mount St. Helens Volcanic National Monument in Washington have long had to stay outside the park’s boundaries, making an hour-long drive to see the volcano’s highlights. A new development plan was recently approved, which will allow visitors to stay right in the blast zone. A trio of lodges, multiple cabins, and a 40-site campground are planned for the area near the Coldwater Ridge Visitor Center. The $35 million project is in the fundraising stage with an expected grand opening in 5 years.Read more from KUOW

Until the living spaces are open, Kift members gain voting rights to pick the first lands to be developed and gain access to a network of community houses.Read more from GearJunkie

The base cost for RV rentals across the survey’s 20 sampled metro areas averaged out at $184 per night.
