Do You Love or Hate This Retro Design?

Toyota turned heads at the 2021 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas last week with its custom-built Tacoma Tacozilla. While this retro-inspired vehicle won’t be heading to production anytime soon, the Tacozilla showcased the overlanding potential for Toyota’s midsize Tacoma. This lifted truck is outfitted with a camper featuring a yellow, orange, and bronze exterior reminiscent of the 1970s—and a well-equipped interior, with a bed, kitchen, and bathroom.

Businesses Honoring Military Service on Veterans Day

Veterans and active-duty service members will find a host of businesses offering freebies and discounts for Veterans Day on November 11. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has a roundup listing participating restaurants, attractions, and retail and service locations. For RVers and campers, all National Park Service sites will offer free admission for everyone on Veterans Day—with or without military service.

New RV Park Coming to Kings Mountain, North Carolina

Zoning approval was granted for the development of a high-end camping resort in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. The town’s military history, recreational opportunities, and new Catawba Two Kings Casino bring visitors to this region, located just 35 miles west of Charlotte. The campground will provide 103 RV spots, 11 tent sites, and 18 cottages. Moser Group Inc., which also developed the casino, is behind the new campground.

Canadian Snowbirds Can Finally Head South Again

Canadian snowbirds are rushing to make winter campground reservations in the southern U.S. as the U.S. border reopens, just in time for snowbird travel. Travel was limited during an 18-month closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. RV parks in Florida are seeing a swell of reservations, with some already booked solid for parts of the winter season.

RV Industry Expected to Benefit From Infrastructure Legislation

The RV Industry Association (RVIA) says the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which passed Congress on November 5, will benefit the travel industry through improved roads, bridges, and internet services. Additionally, investments will be made to provide access to federal lands and support campgrounds and recreation sites managed by the National Park Service and the U.S. Forest Service.
