Your RV Is in Flames—Now What?

What happens when an older RV is being pushed past its limits, causing a ball of fire to flood the carb? While this was a harrowing experience for Brianna Contreras, everyone escaped to safety—and learned a few things in the process. Brianna recommends getting your rig checked by a professional mechanic and learning mechanical skills of your own (especially if you are purchasing an older motorhome). Have a fire extinguisher on hand—and know how to use it. Lastly, have a roadside assistance plan for emergencies like this one. Read the full story and more rig maintenance tips on Togo RV.

How to Avoid a Poor Experience When Buying RV Parts Online

There’s a good chance you can find parts that you need for your next RV DIY project online, but how do you find a trustworthy retailer? Togo RV’s guide to shopping for RV parts and accessories online suggests starting by looking at online reviews. Next, consider the price, warranty details, and return policies. If you’re replacing parts, talk to the dealer directly to see if they can confirm what parts you actually need, a process that can be more difficult than buying automobile parts.

Public lands, monuments, and waterways are often backdrops for great adventures and memories, and Recreation.gov (an agency consisting of 12 federal partners, including the Bureau of Land Management) wants you to share yours. Entries for the “Share Your Story” contest are currently accepted on the agency’s website through April 30, 2021. Craft a narrative about your favorite traditions, camping tales, and family experiences in 4,500 characters or fewer. Two winners will be selected each month, with overall winners and category awards named in May. RV and campervan stories are highlighted in a category of their own. 10 Amenities RVers Favor at Campgrounds

CampgroundBooking, a campsite management website, surveyed 600 RVers to find out what makes a campground awesome. Camp stores and onsite food options are popular requests—especially if they have a local flair. Amenities, such as dog parks, paved roads, clean comfort stations, and WiFi can also improve the experience. RVers like to find extras, like fire pits and hiking trails. But, two of the most desirable amenities are more elusive: trees and great views—73 percent of RVers said the views are an important part of their camping experience.
