KOA Prepares for Labor Day Campers
Are you one of the 28 million campers planning to spend the Labor Day holiday at a campground? These numbers are up 44 percent from the Fourth of July weekend, according to KOA’s monthly camping research, which indicates strong interest in fall camping. There are currently 54.5 million camping households, and 28 percent plan to continue camping after Labor Day’s unofficial wrap on the summer season. National and state park campgrounds, as well as private parks, are expected to be popular destinations.

Masks Required at National Park Service Sites
Visitors to national parks will once again be required to wear masks indoors and in crowded outdoor areas in response to rising COVID-19 cases. The mask mandate includes all visitors, regardless of vaccination status or location. With record-breaking numbers of travelers in the parks and visitors coming from different states, the NPS wants to promote safety.

It’s Not Too Late to Plan a Labor Day Road Trip
Summer is ending, but Labor Day offers an opportunity to enjoy one final long weekend. In the Southeast, Asheville, North Carolina, offers outdoor recreation and scenic drives near a national park and forest. Those who live out west will find plenty of outdoor hikes and activities in Colorado, especially at Great Sand Dunes National Park. On the West Coast, head to the charming town of Nevada City, California, for its annual film festival and mountain views. Midwesterners can try kayaking and beach camping on the Great Lakes before the winter freeze.
