Record snowfall could keep parts of Yosemite National Park closed through the summer. The park announced that popular areas for rafting, swimming, and camping may remain inaccessible until July due to rising river waters caused by snow melt. Snow surveys conducted earlier this month concluded that both the Merced and Tuolumne river basins were still significantly above average.

Some states like California, Colorado, and Washington even offer park and museum pass rentals, so you can visit popular attractions without paying entrance fees.

Flooding Closes This Popular Zion National Park Hike

If you’re heading to Zion National Park this summer, chances are you won’t be able to hike the famed Narrows trail through the Virgin River. Dangerously high and fast-moving river waters have closed the trail, and conditions aren’t expected to improve anytime soon. While it’s common to see the Narrows closed during the spring months due to runoff water levels, park officials believe this year’s high rainfall could keep the trail closed longer than usual, with little to no reprieve before the area’s monsoon season takes place. Visitors should check nps.gov/zion for the most up-to-date closure information.
